Hello Everybody!

This is Amigo 501 back in the house to keep you up to date with all that has been going on at the pub during the last week.  Thanks for tuning in and I hope you enjoy the PUB NEWS with AMIGO 501.

TWO MASSIVE FINALS COMING UP

This Saturday is the Saturday of finals.  A day of judgement.  Two huge finals will crown two European champions and leave others to be forgotten as s many runners-up are.

Firstly, the Leinster and Ulster rugby crews will battle to the last whistle in the Heineken Cup Final.  I don’t know much about rugby.  The ball is a strange shape but I enjoy watching it and the pub is always buzzing when there is a big match on.  I will be shouting for Leinster all the way.

Secondly, Chelsea and Bayern Munich will play the Champions League Final  later in the evening.  Everybody including myself expected a Barcelona and Real Madrid final.  I think Chelsea will win this one as they have been to the final before and narrowly missed out on lifting the cup.  They slipped up, well, John Terry did.  I don’t think Chelsea will want to feel that gutted again and will do the job this time around.

JOB WELL DONE

I had a wee chat with John Andrews.  He is a good friend of mine and when we spoke he was in great form.  I asked him about the intermediate footballers were getting on and I was delighted to hear that they had just scratched up a nice 14 point victory in their last match.  I hope this form continues and it won’t be long before we see the Red back on the senior scene.  Well done lads.

DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA AND MORE DRAMA

The epic finish which was witnessed to the end of the Premier League was out of this world.  Well done to Man City over the course of the season they paid better…..oops, I meant ‘played’ better.  They deserve to be champions but you have to mention that it is incredible that a Man Utd team who many view as their weakest in years pushed City all the way to the last kick of the season before surrendering their crown as Champions.  United will be back.  Back and stronger.  I can’t wait for next season.

A SAD GOODBYE

Finally, on a sad note, I wish to say farewell to our friend Paul Eivers who will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all at the James Griffin Pub.  Paul sadly passed away recently and we send our thoughts and blessings to Paul’s family.  RIP

BRAVEHEART TRAIL RUN – The third Braveheart Trail run which is organised by Trim Athletic Club (http://trimathletics.blogspot.com/) will take place on the evening of the 15th of June and will see the 5KM race run along the banks of the Boyne.  This is a great event and you can expect to see many a runner dressed as a character from the movie too!

TRIM HAYMAKING FESTIVAL – For a great family day out one should not pass up the opportunity to take in the attractions at the Trim Haymaking Festival on 17th June.  Both young and old will enjoy a day of entertainment which features the legendary ‘Roll in the Hay’ competition.  Check out http://www.scurlogstown.com/ for more details.

TRIM VINTAGE & VETERAN CAR RALLY – A day not to be missed.  Since 1985 the Trim Vintage & Veteran Car Rally has grown from a display of jsut 23 cars to a mass ensemble of 500 vehicles. The show, which will be on the 15th of July this year, is a hit year after year and attracts visitors from all over Ireland due to the wide attraction of entertainment on offer and of course the magnificent display of cars from years gone by.  Check out http://www.trimcarrally.ie/ for more details.
